LATAM recognized as the leading airline in sustainability in the Americas and Europe

30According to Standard & Poor’s Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), LATAM ranked fourth worldwide, making it the airline with the best sustainability performance in the Americas and Europe, based on the most recent results published on November 12, 2021.

This global position is the result of the launch of the airline’s sustainability strategy, which is based on three pillars: Climate Change, Circular Economy, and Shared Value.

This strategy focuses on the commitment to the protection of South America’s key ecosystems, the migration to a zero-waste-to-landfill model, and providing its capacity for connectivity in the benefit of the region’s communities.

In this regard, Roberto Alvo, CEO of the LATAM group, said «The result obtained is very good news that encourages us and proves that we are on the right track, but this is not enough. We cannot think of a future LATAM that does not go hand in hand with the development of our ecosystems and communities. We will continue working to contribute economically, socially and environmentally in the countries where we operate».

The Corporate Sustainability Assessment and the collaboration with S&P Dow Jones Indexes have been used since 1999 to create the leading global benchmark for sustainability. This year, more than 10,000 companies were rated on 3 key drivers; environmental, social, and governance.
