From December, Lufthansa will start offering paid snacks and alcoholic beverages in Economy and Premium Economy classes on long-haul flights.
Although the announcement was made by the German carrier last Tuesday, November 23, the airline’s plan had been announced early last month, when, after information was released, Lufthansa announced the changes claiming that it was a need of the passengers themselves, although it is explained that it is a budget cut to recover revenues after the pandemic.
«We are responding to the diverse needs of passengers when choosing food and beverages onboard. Especially on the intermediate services, passengers’ needs are very individual: instead of a standard product, they want more choice and high quality,» the company said.
According to a press release, Lufthansa says that passengers on long-haul flights in the Economy and Premium Economy classes will now have the option of purchasing high-quality snacks and alcoholic beverages, which will no longer be free of charge.
To reassure the vast majority of customers, it should be noted that meals and main beverages, such as soft drinks, beers, and wine, will continue to be distributed free of charge in these long-haul flight classes.
From the information provided by our media partner Aeroin, we learn that the changes will take place from December 1, when the new service will initially be introduced on 37 long-haul routes to North America, South America, Asia, and South Africa. The service will be available on all intercontinental flights by European spring 2022.
Prices, menu items and available products can be consulted in the online menu that Lufthansa is making available to its customers.
