«Thanks to the reception Wingo has had, during the post-pandemic reactivation phase by the Colombian travelers, we have undertaken an ambitious growth plan with which we have already doubled the number of aircraft in our fleet and that today allows us to offer more seats in the market for all those who want to fly at low prices, with quality and good vibes,» said Juan Sebastián Molano, Wingo’s Communication Manager.

«This announcement strengthens our presence in more than 11 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean as we continue our consolidation as one of the most promising low-cost airlines in the region,» added Molano.

The substantial increase in the number of seats on offer reinforces its existing route network and explores new destinations popular with Colombian travelers, and as of March 22, 2022.

Wingo will increase its offerings on the following domestic flights:

  • Cartagena – San Andres (ADZ) increases from 2 to 3 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Santa Marta (SRM) increases to 12 weekly flights during the high season.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Cartagena (CTG) 12 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Medellin (MDE) 10 weekly flights.
  • Bogotá (BOG) – Cali (CLO) 9 weekly flights.

Wingo is consolidating its position as the largest low-cost operator in Colombia, in terms of international route offerings; and with this increase in capacity the airline will also increase its operations abroad as of March 2022:

  • Bogota (BOG) – Panama Tocumen (PTY) increases from 4 to 7 weekly flights.
  • Cali – Panama Tocumen (PTY) increases from 3 to 4 weekly flights.
  • Medellin (MDE) – Panama Tocumen (PTY) increases to 7 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Quito (UIO) increases from 4 to 6 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Guayaquil (GYE) increases to 4 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Cancun (CUN) increases to 10 weekly flights.
  • Bogota (BOG) – Punta Cana (PUJ) increases from 4 to 5 weekly flights.

  • Medellin (MDE) – Cancun (CUN) 4 weekly flights.
  • Medellín (MDE) – Punta Cana (PUJ) increases to 4 weekly flights.
  • Cali (CLO) – Cancun (CUN) increases to 3 weekly flights.

The Colombian market is currently facing fierce competition: traditional airlines such as Avianca have announced more international point-to-point routes, while the low-cost VIVA sealed an alliance with Viva Aerobus to reinforce its operation to Mexico.
