American Airlines continues to further strengthen its network from the East Coast of the United States, and effective June 4, 2022, will launch service between New York (JFK) to Doha (DOH), its second destination in the Middle East.

“Adding Doha to our growing global network and resuming a significant portion of our European routes gives our customers more options as they plan next year’s vacation,” said Brian Znotins, American Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning.

With the addition of this new destination, American is deepening its partnership with Oneworld associate Qatar Airways, which recently expanded its operations to the United States. Passengers will benefit from the codeshare between the two airlines, which gives them access to more destinations in the Middle East, East Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.

“We look forward to welcoming our Oneworld partner and friends American Airlines into our base airport in Doha, which was recently voted the best airport in the world, as well as establishing connections to a number of business and leisure destinations across the region and beyond,” said Thierry Antinori, Chief Commercial Officer, Qatar Airways.

In 2021, thanks to the reinforcement of its partnerships with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue, American Airlines inaugurated 37 international routes. Specifically from New York (JFK), Santiago (SCL), Bogota (BOG), Medellin (MDE), Cali (CLO), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Tel Aviv (TLV), Athens (ATH), and Delhi (DEL) were inaugurated.

Seasonal calendar for the northern summer of 2022

American has scheduled a dynamic seasonal schedule for the 2022 summer season that will focus on major European capitals and popular vacation destinations. All assigned widebody aircraft in Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America will be reassigned to transatlantic destinations.

Also due to delays in Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner deliveries, the airline will not resume services to Shannon (SNN), Edinburgh (EDI), Dubrovnik (DVB) and Prague (PRG). In Asia and South America, it will reduce frequencies, allowing more options to other in-demand destinations during the summer.
