5G: LATAM resumes flights to the United States with 777s

On January 18, Latam Brazil switched its Boeing 777-300ERs to other aircraft models on routes to and from the United States. The move was a precautionary measure in the face of concerns raised by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing over possible interference from 5G network C-band waves in the aircraft’s radio altimeters.

However, the equipment change lasted only one day. Once again postponed the implementation of the C-band near airports, and due to a message from the FAA recommending «caution», LATAM has already returned to operate the following day the triple seven on U.S. routes.

Through a press release published by our partner media in Brazil, Aeroin, it was reported that «LATAM does not plan any changes to the flights and aircraft operating its routes between Brazil and the United States. The company is monitoring this matter closely, always in accordance with the recommendations of the aeronautical authorities of the countries where it operates.»
