Wingo plans to carry 2.5 million passengers by 2022

After having transported close to one and a half million passengers in 2021, the Low-Cost carrier Wingo is betting on carrying some 2.5 million people during 2022, which would mean annual growth of 100%.

In addition, the airline is currently operating at more than double the capacity it had before the pandemic in 2019, which is clear evidence of the company’s growth strategy, which will continue through 2022.

Jorge Jiménez, Wingo’s Sales, Marketing and Distribution Director, stated in an interview with El Colombiano, that after a difficult start of the year in which the airline was not prepared to face the new levels of demand in terms of service, by the end of 2021 it was able to return to pre-pandemic levels of customer attention.

«Since October, we have been able to provide a response to more than 90% of our travelers within the established service times; we have been able to return to the same service standards we had before the pandemic,» said Jiménez.

Finally, the executive confirmed that Wingo has not had to cancel flights due to medical inabilities for Omicron infections as it has happened to other airlines in Colombia, and said that in case of an increase in the number of positive cases within the company, protocols will be used in order to avoid as much as possible the rescheduling of flights and avoid the impact on travelers.

Currently, Wingo has 29 routes connecting 19 cities in Colombia, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Peru, Cuba, Aruba, and Curacao.
