Avelo Airlines continues to expand its operations at Tweet-New Haven (HVN), Connecticut, by announcing new non-stop flights to Chicago/Midway (MDW), Baltimore/Washington (BWA), and Raleigh/Durham (RDU).
On February 11, Avelo Airlines commemorated its 100th day of operations at Tweet-New Haven (HVN), where it began flying on November 3, 2021, using three 147-passenger Boeing 737-700s. Flights were operated to popular Florida destinations Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Sarasota/Bradenton, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. Between November and January, it carried 70,000 passengers with an average occupancy rate of 76%.
The company announced that it would add four new destinations exclusively from New Haven: Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Savannah in South Carolina; and Nashville in Tennessee.
They will now add three destinations focused on the corporate traveler, after surpassing 100,000 customers in four months of operations in Connecticut. This milestone will come with the addition of at least 100 additional crew members at the HVN base by the end of 2022, expanding the team at the airport to more than 200 employees.
Avelo has committed to adding nine additional 737 NGs by 2022. Several of those aircraft will be added to Avelo’s East Coast operation. The airline plans to more than double its domestic network from 18 to at least 40 destinations by the end of this year.
