Avianca resumed its third European destination this weekend, connecting Bogotá (BOG), Colombia with London/Heathrow (LHR), United Kingdom. With the takeoff of flight AV120, the company is once again the only airline to connect both cities.
This key route was first inaugurated in 2014. Now they are connected again, after 2 years of suspension due to the health crisis. A daily service in both directions operated by Boeing 787 «Dreamliner» aircraft with capacity for 250 travelers, will provide an offer of 3500 seats per week.
«We are very proud to directly connect Latin America with the United Kingdom with this reactivation, and also to increase our presence between Colombia and Europe starting in March with 84 flights, thanks to the operation of 5 routes: Bogota-London, Bogota-Madrid, Bogota-Barcelona, Cali-Madrid and Medellin-Madrid», assured Ana Maria Copete, Avianca’s Sales Director for Colombia.

Avianca customers will be able to arrive directly to London and from there connect to the interior of the United Kingdom through trains, buses, and air operators. In addition, through Heathrow there are more than fifty destinations in Europe, Africa, and Asia thanks to the more than fifteen alliances that the company has.
Likewise, travelers from Europe will be able to reach Bogota, the company’s main hub, and from there connect to more than sixty-five destinations in the Avianca network.
«The reopening of the direct flight between Bogota and London is a fantastic and welcome milestone in our strong bilateral relationship, as it will allow us to further boost our economic, political, cultural and educational partnerships,» said Colin Martin-Reynolds CMG, British Ambassador to Colombia.
«It is great news for Colombia’s international connectivity the resumption of the route connecting Bogota with London, this definitely shows that the process of recovering connections has been effective thanks to the work we have done in cooperation with the country’s aviation chain» explained Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.
