The leasing company has signed a firm order for 80 A320neo family aircraft, comprising 10 A321XLRs, 50 A321neo and 20 A320neo aircraft scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2029.

“We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with Airbus, with whom we have partnered for more than 26 years,” said Robert Martin, managing director and chief executive officer of BOC Aviation. “This is the largest single order we have ever placed and will bring the total number of Airbus aircraft purchased since inception to 546.”

This latest deal brings BOC Aviation’s total direct orders with Airbus to 453 aircraft from the A320 single-aisle family to the A330 and A350 widebody.

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Ch-Aviation, the lessor has 66 A320neo in its portfolio and an order for an additional 30 aircraft, this latest deal will bring the total to 116. Most of them are distributed to Asian companies, although five aircraft are with TAP Air Portugal and three with Brazil’s Azul.

Robert Martin underlined the confidence in the A320neo family for its reliability and operational efficiency which has made it a popular aircraft among its customers.

On the other hand, its A321neo fleet counts 26 aircraft, including three A321LRs, and an order for five more. This agreement will bring the total number of A321neo aircraft to 93, with the addition of the A321XLR to its portfolio.

The A321XLR version provides an additional range extension to 4,700nm, giving it a flight time of up to 11 hours. Considering that the majority of its customers are Asian, it will be a new product for the region that currently has no large orders.

“This significant long-term order for an additional 80 aircraft is great proof of the sustained value of our single-aisle products from one of the world’s leading lessors. We salute their vision and foresight to secure future delivery positions for these most desirable assets in the single-aisle segment now and in the long term,” concluded Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Airbus International.
