As of July 23, Asiana Airlines resumes operations of its Airbus A380: the airline will put the superjumbo back into service on one of its most emblematic routes between Seoul – Incheon (ICN) and Los Angeles (LAX).
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, the carrier will have a 2,970-seat per week offering on the A380. Asiana’s last scheduled passenger operation on this aircraft was in March 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Flight Itinerary
- Seoul Incheon – Los Angeles Flight OZ 202 ICN 14:40 – LAX 09:50 Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- Los Angeles – Seoul Incheon Flight OZ 201 LAX 12:10 – ICN 17:35 Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Currently, Asiana offers two daily flights between the Korean capital and LAX, from the end of July three weekly flights on the route will be operated on Airbus A380s and the remaining operations will be carried out on Airbus A350-900 aircraft. So far, the superjumbo’s schedule to the United States is available until October 29, 2022.
Asiana Airlines’ Airbus A380s have a seating capacity of 495 seats in three classes: 12 Business Suites, 66 Business Class and 417 Economy. Prior to the pandemic these superjumbos operated routes to Frankfurt (FRA) and Sydney (SYD).
According to data compiled by Aviacionline through the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) 997,058 passengers were mobilized in 2019 between Seoul – Incheon (ICN) and Los Angeles (LAX), the main long-haul route in South Korea and the fourth transpacific in the U.S., California is one of the main destinations for Korean travelers both for business, leisure and visiting family and/or friends.
With the recent opening of borders in South Korea, Asiana Airlines has increased its international operations as travel demand picks up, the carrier will offer five long-haul services to the United States.

According to figures obtained through Cirium, the company will have an offer of 24,604 seats per week between Seoul (ICN) and the United States:
- Los Angeles (LAX) two daily flights on Airbus A380 and Airbus A350-900.
- New York (JFK) daily flights on Airbus A350-900.
- Honolulu (HNL) five flights per week on Airbus A330-300.
- San Francisco (SFO) daily flights on Airbus A350-900.
- Seattle (SEA) four flights per week on Airbus A330-300.
