Eve Air Mobility announced the closing of an agreement with Fahari Aviation, an emerging aviation technology development company owned by Kenya Airways, to expand urban air mobility (UAM) in Kenya.

The agreement reportedly includes a firm order for up to forty electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft manufactured by the Embraer subsidiary. In March of this year, the two companies signed a letter of intent to this effect. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026.

On the other hand, both companies will work on the study and development of the market for this transport system in the African country. They will also seek to expand the business of drone operations for cargo transportation.

«The journey to realise the dream of eVTOL vehicles in Kenya is on course, and the partnership with Eve is a key achievement for us as part of the strategy to adopt new technologies as a growth strategy for the sustainable development of Africa», said Allan Kilavuka, CEO of Kenya Airways.

For his part, Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve, assured: «Last year, we announced a collaboration to develop operational models for Fahari Aviation’s key markets, and today’s announcement confirms that it is evolving successfully».

Eve Air Mobility expects to obtain the certification for its all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft in 2025. If so, the model would be introduced to the commercial market in early 2026.
