Plus Ultra lands in the Dominican Republic

Yesterday Friday (July 1), Plus Ultra landed for the first time in the Dominican Republic with a new service between Madrid (MAD) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) with three weekly flights. This will be the first destination of the company in the Caribbean.

Flight PU 401 was operated in an Airbus A330 (Ex – Air Europa) registered with registration EC-KOM, the aircraft took off from Terminal 4 of Adolfo Suarez Airport (MAD) at 13:10 local time and landed at Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) at 15:46.

Plus Ultra will be the fourth airline operator on this route and will offer 1,794 seats per week. The Dominican capital is currently Spain’s main Caribbean market.

Flight Itinerary

  • Madrid – Santo Domingo Flight PU 401 MAD 12:30 – SDQ 15:10 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Santo Domingo – Madrid Flight PU 402 SDQ 17:10 – MAD 07:30+1 Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Flights will be operated on Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity of 299 seats in two classes (24 Business Class/275 Economy) and promotional fares are available from 454 euros each way. On July 3, the airline will start a second destination in the Dominican Republic to Samaná (AZS) with a weekly frequency.

Data compiled by Aviacionline through Aena Estadísticas indicates that 425,614 passengers and 7,284.29 tons of cargo were mobilized in 1,657 air operations between Madrid (MAD) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) in 2021, the second busiest intercontinental route from Adolfo Suarez Airport (MAD).

According to data obtained by Aviacionline through Cirium, Plus Ultra will have an offer of 10,424 seats per week in 34 air operations from its hub in Madrid (MAD):

  • Samana (AZS) one weekly frequency on Airbus A330-200.
  • Bogota (BOG) three weekly flights on Airbus A330-200.
  • Cartagena (CTG) via BOG.
  • Lima (LIM) four flights per week on Airbus A340.
  • Caracas (CCS) four flights per week on Airbus A340 and A330.
  • Santo Domingo (SDQ) three flights per week on Airbus A330.
  • Malabo, Equatorial Guinea (SSG) one flight per week on Airbus A340.
