Virgin Atlantic continues to expand its transatlantic network with a new non-stop service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Tampa (TPA), initially with four weekly flights from November 3, 2022.
This new route will increase to daily flights from November 28, 2022, this service will complement the Orlando (MCO) and Miami (MIA) services both operating with two daily flights. This latest addition follows the launch between the British capital and Austin in May this year.
The airline will offer more than 190,000 seats each year: Virgin Atlantic will be the only carrier to fly the Tampa Bay region from London Heathrow (LHR), the UK’s main airport, plus customers have the option to connect through the airline’s network of destinations from its main hub.
«We are delighted to continue our expansion in the U.S. with this new daily service to Tampa, Florida, which offers even more options for customers on both sides of the Atlantic to connect between the U.S. and U.K. to the rest of the world,» said Juha Jarvinen, Virgin Atlantic’s chief commercial officer.
«The region has a booming economy with high-profile businesses moving into the area and many budding entrepreneurs starting businesses in the city. We look forward to forging new relationships within the Tampa Bay community and are eager to welcome aboard customers, both existing and new, and fly them safely to explore this exciting region,» Jarvinen added.
Data obtained by Aviacionline through the Civil Aviation Authority UK (CAA) indicates that 234,071 passengers were flown between London and Tampa in 2019, the third largest market between Florida and the British capital.
