One of the rarest aircraft operating in the world is undoubtedly the A300-600 BelugaST and we finally had the opportunity to see it operating in Latin America. The aircraft arrived in Sao Paulo this morning, carrying an ACH160 helicopter to an operator in Brazil.
This advanced helicopter will be assembled at Azul Linhas Aéreas’ MRO facility located at São Paulo’s Viracopos Airport, where the Beluga will fly to before returning to Europe.
There, Airbus organized a press event where we were able to see the BelugaST up close, through our collaborator Juan Carlos Cassa:
In January, Airbus launched a new oversized cargo service for customers around the world with the BelugaST. These cargo aircraft, based on the A300-600 design, have expanded their scope beyond intra-Airbus facility transfers to fly missions around the world carrying oversized cargo.
With the new service, up to five BelugaSTs will transport oversized cargo for commercial customers under contract, serving industries such as engine manufacturers; space; helicopters and manufacturing machinery; energy, oil and gas; ground vehicles and other military equipment; humanitarian supplies, among others.
