Condor reached an agreement with its nearly 3,000 cabin and ground employees and will increase wages in line with inflation. The new collective bargaining agreement covers both groups of employees.

Between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2024, the airline’s employees will enjoy increases of between 7 and 9 percent. This will bring salaries in line with projected increases in the consumer price index for the coming years. «This is an important result for the workers. The improvement in wages is acceptable,» said Dennis Dacke, negotiator for the ver.di union, which represents Condor employees.

The new agreement will match inflation in Europe, which reached a new record of 9.6% in June 2022. In addition, it will compensate with «several hundred euros» for the additional services that cabin workers are having to provide in order to ensure the operation of flights. Due to the difficulty in obtaining personnel, several airlines are requiring their employees to do mandatory overtime.

Another collective bargaining agreement was also discussed in the negotiations, which will regulate payments for cabin personnel who voluntarily provided services in the period from August 1 to October 31, 2022. Some highly paid crew members will see rewards of «several hundred euros» per day. Dacke noted in this regard that «it is important that employees, extremely stressed by the services required in this critical period, receive financial compensation for their commitment».

The union spokesman closed by asking Condor management for «responsibility and empathy» towards its workers. He also demanded that they collaborate in minimizing stressful situations during an extremely critical time for aviation in Europe.
