ZIPAIR Tokyo will fly between Tokyo – Narita (NRT) and San Jose, California (SJC) with three weekly flights starting December 12. The airline will be the only long-haul low-cost carrier to offer nonstop service between Asia and the San Francisco Bay Area.
With this new route, Norman Y. Mineta International Airport (SJC) is once again connected to Japan after more than 2.5 years, the last non-stop service between San Jose and Tokyo was on March 23, 2020. ZIPAIR will be the second long-haul carrier to SJC along with British Airways.
«With tickets now on sale, we are thrilled to be one step closer to welcoming ZIPAIR Tokyo to the Bay Area and Mineta San Jose International Airport Mineta,» said John Aitken, SJC’s Director of Aviation.
«This new nonstop service between SJC and Tokyo-Narita re-establishes an important link between San Jose and Japan and represents the first low-cost transpacific service between the Bay Area and Asia,» added Aitken.
San Jose (SJC) becomes the carrier’s third U.S. destination along with Honolulu (HNL) and Los Angeles (LAX), all of which will be available during the northern winter season. In Asia, the low-cost carrier also offers nonstop service to Bangkok (BKK), Seoul – Incheon (ICN) and Singapore (SIN).
«The service to Mineta San Jose International Airport will be our second route across the Pacific, following Los Angeles, which launched in December 2021. ZIPAIR’s unique business model offers customers a convenient travel option at an affordable price, which has been one of our main objectives since the company’s inception,» said Shingo Nishida, president of ZIPAIR Tokyo.
