Global Crossing Airlines Group, better known as GlobalX, announced today the implementation of an increase in pilot pay scales of up to 53% over the next three years.
Captains’ pay will increase by 33%, while First Officers’ pay will grow by 53%, which, the company noted, will make them the highest paid in the charter airline industry and put them in a competitive position with low-cost carriers.
«This pay increase is another step in our commitment to provide the best compensation and benefits packages to pilots in our sector of the industry,» said Ed Wegel, Chairman and CEO of Global Crossing Airlines Group.
«As we expand our A320 passenger operations and rollout our A321 freighter cargo operations, we want to attract and retain the industry’s best pilots by focusing on their financial security, continuing their professional growth and providing a proper work-life balance,» he concluded.
The airline was founded in 2019 and began passenger operations in August 2021, with an Airbus A320 family fleet. GlobalX’s business includes wet leasing and charter for passenger services within the United States, the Caribbean and Latin America. Its customers include major tour operators, college and university teams, as well as major VIP entertainment clients, major cruise lines, plus airlines requiring additional lift or AOG subservice.
GlobalX has launched its cargo division under the XCargo brand with an A321 P2F (Passenger to Freighter) aircraft and expects to place the A321F on its U.S. Part 121 Air Operator Certificate this year, subject to all DoT and FAA approvals. It has signed an agreement with Avianca to operate its first A321F for them on routes from the U.S. to Latin America. It is working to place its next four A321Fs expected to be delivered by March 2023 with airlines in Latin America.
In parallel they are also making progress in obtaining their air operator certificate in Colombia under the GlobalX-Colombia brand, a subsidiary led by Roberto Held, former CFO of Avianca.
