Low-cost airline Vueling announced that starting in summer 2023 it will operate flights to seven new routes from Bilbao Airport (BIO), its third largest hub in Spain. For this, it will base a seventh Airbus A320 aircraft there from 1 July.

With the new additions, the company will have a network of 32 destinations from the air terminal serving the Basque Country’s most populous city.

During the 2022 summer season, Vueling carried more than 1.7 million passengers to and from Bilbao, representing 48% of the total number of seats occupied at the airport.

«Our commitment to the Basque Country continues to be very strong and we are determined to further increase the operational muscle in Bilbao, connecting one of Spain’s most important regions with the world», said Jordi Pla, Vueling’s Director of Network Strategy & Long Term Planning.
