Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer announced today that its agricultural aviation division reached a new sales record. During the first eleven months of this year, the company sold a total of 63 Ipanema 203 aircraft and thus surpassed the figure for the same period in 2021.

As Embraer said in a press release, agricultural production during the last harvest in Brazil, which produced 271.2 million tonnes of grain (almost 14.5 million more than in the previous cycle), was key to the increase in orders.

The demand for Ipanema 203 comes mainly from the Central-West region of the country, where most of the economic activities of this type are concentrated. However, the volume of sales to operators in other regions has also increased recently.

Sany Onofre, Manager of Embraer’s Agricultural Aviation, pointed out that the sales of the Ipanema 203 are also accompanied by a greater commitment of the entire segment, with better interactions between those working in maintenance, training schools, service providers and customers.

“Working together to ensure that everyone has their maintenance up to date, increasing the number of certified workshops and training new pilots are some of the essential actions for the development of the sector as a whole”, said Onofre. With more than 1.500 aircraft delivered, the type is a leader in the Brazilian agricultural sector.

In this regard, Embraer highlighted the new partnerships with companies Sabri and Agroefetiva, which from 2023 will offer free advice to buyers of Ipanema models to optimise aircraft configuration and achieve maximum performance, according to the needs of each customer.

The Ipanema 203

The Ipanema 203, the latest agricultural aircraft developed by Embraer, incorporates substantial design improvements. It features, for example, stronger stainless steel materials and new wing parts with different geometry. These features slow down the eventual wear and tear caused by operating conditions in the fields and lower the long-term maintenance cost.

In addition, the advanced aerial sprayer features a new engine cowling design, with new air outlet grilles that ensure increased cooling.
