SKY Airline, Chile’s second-largest airline in terms of capacity, is expected to launch flights to Porto Alegre, its fourth destination in Brazil, on April 1st, 2023, according to data publicly available in Brazil. The city would be connected to SKY’s main base in Santiago de Chile with daily flights.
The information is made available by Brazil’s national civil aviation regulator, ANAC, in its SIROS planned flights application. The flights should start by April 2023, operating on a year-round basis; they are not yet for sale by the Chilean airline.
With a metropolitan population of over four million people, Porto Alegre is the Southernmost state capital of the country. The operation would be performed with the airline’s workhorse, the Airbus A320neo, with a capacity of 186 seats in a single class.
Prior to the pandemic, Santiago had been connected nonstop to Porto Alegre by LATAM Airlines Chile, with the service expected to return in March 2023 only.
In Brazil, SKY Airline is already present with year-round direct flights from Santiago to Florianópolis, Rio de Janeiro/Galeão and São Paulo/Guarulhos.
Asked about the topic by Aviacionline, SKY Airline did not provide an answer about the matter.
