Singapore-based global aircraft leasing company BOC Aviation placed an order for forty Boeing 737 MAX 8 that will allow it to increase its portfolio of units of the narrow-body jet, the American manufacturer said yesterday.

Since the end of 2020, and despite the problems still faced by some of its variants, Boeing has received more than 1.500 firm orders for 737 MAX family aircraft.

“We are proud that BOC Aviation continues to invest in the 737-8 with its industry-leading versatility and ability to fly almost any short- and medium-haul market profitably”, said Ryan Weir, Boeing’s vice president of Global Leasing Sales.

“We are pleased to continue to build on our existing relationship with Boeing, with this 40-aircraft incremental order for the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-8 aircraft”, said David Walton, deputy Managing Director and COO of BOC Aviation. He also stated: “We look forward to continuing to provide one of the industry’s most technologically advanced aircraft for delivery on lease to our airline customers, and to support their sustainable growth over the balance of this decade”.

BOC Aviation is one of the world’s largest aircraft leasing companies. As of 30 September this year, it had a fleet of 612 owned, managed and on order aircraft. The units operated for 81 airlines in 38 different countries. The lessor is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and has its headquarters in Singapore with offices in Dublin, London, New York and Tianjin.
