The Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed that, as per the carrier request, has paused all Southwest departing flights. More than 1,200 flights – equivalent to 30% of the airline’s schedule – experienced delays as of 11:00am ET, according to flight-tracking websites.
The technical problems, which impacted Southwest’s website and mobile app, resulted in the airline temporarily suspending departures. The company took to Twitter to acknowledge the situation and assure customers that they were working diligently to resolve the issue.
«We’re aware of intermittent issues with our website and mobile app, but we’re working hard in making sure our Customers have full capabilities on our site,» the tweet read. Southwest also promised to provide updates as soon as the site was fully operational, urging passengers to «continue to hang in there with us!»
The agency requests passengers to contact the airline for more information.
Southwest Airlines requested the FAA pause the airline’s departures.
