WestJet strengthens flights between Eastern and Western Canada

WestJet has successfully executed its strategic plan for summer scheduling by increasing its coast-to-coast operations in Canada, providing customers with multiple domestic travel options easily and affordably.

This summer season, WestJet has significantly boosted its Canadian connectivity by optimizing direct routes between Eastern and Western Canada and resuming four other services just in time for the peak traveler demand period.

New routes

  • Edmonton – London, Ontario: launched May 19 with twice-weekly flights.
  • Edmonton – Charlottetown: started June 14 with one weekly frequency.
  • Calgary – Moncton: began June 14 with three weekly flights.
  • Edmonton – Moncton: began June 29 with two flights per week.

Resumption of services

  • Edmonton – Ottawa: began April 30 with six flights per week.
  • Calgary – Quebec City: began May 19 with four flights per week.
  • Calgary – Thunder Bay: began June 29 with three flights per week.
  • Edmonton – Montreal: commenced June 30 with two flights per week.

With strengthened domestic and cross-border connectivity this summer season, WestJet has increased its operations by almost 30% in Calgary and 50% in Edmonton. The Canadian airline’s Toronto – Pearson network remains strong with up to 65 daily non-stop flights to destinations in Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the United States.

Also, WestJet is driving new business and leisure travel opportunities, further strengthening regional connectivity with reactivated nonstop flights and increased operations in other regions, such as:

  • Seat capacity to and from Regina increased by 64%.
  • Seat capacity to and from Saskatoon increased by 46%.
  • Seat capacity to and from Winnipeg increased by 42%.
  • Seat capacity to and from Kelowna increased by 13%.
  • Seat capacity to and from Vancouver increased by 10%.
