Eve Air Mobility Appoints Johann Bordais as New CEO; Unveils New Leadership Structure

Eve Air Mobility announced that Johann Bordais, current President and CEO of Embraer Services & Support, will take the helm as the company’s Chief Executive Officer effective September 1, 2023. Bordais will replace co-CEOs Andre Stein and Jerry DeMuro, who will take on new roles within the company.

The leadership shakeup comes as Eve ramps up development of its revolutionary electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and urban air ecosystem. Luís Carlos Affonso, Chairman of Eve’s Board, expressed confidence in the appointment, stating, «Johann’s leadership and experience successfully leading a global business will be an outstanding addition to Eve’s team, helping our mission to create Urban Air Mobility.”

Bordais, who has been instrumental in turning Embraer Services & Support into the company’s fastest-growing and most profitable division since its establishment in 2016, generated revenues of $1.27 billion in 2022, 28% of Embraer’s total revenue. He has been credited with transforming Embraer’s aftersales business model and offering a diverse range of solutions to a variety of aviation sectors.

“Urban Air Mobility has the potential to revolutionize how people commute and travel with a direct impact on millions of lives,» Bordais commented. «Eve has built a skilled team in recent years to deliver an effective and sustainable new mode of transportation, and I’m so proud and very excited to join this group.”

DeMuro, who helped take Eve public through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) transaction that raised roughly $400 million, will remain with the company as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development. He expressed his belief in Eve’s potential to become a leading player in the burgeoning $760 billion UAM market.

Stein, with over 25 years of experience in the aerospace industry, will become Eve’s Chief Strategy Officer. He will spearhead the development and execution of launch strategies with international partners and operators.

In addition, Kenn Ricci will step down from the Eve Board of Directors by the end of October 2023, and it is expected that DeMuro will be appointed as his replacement. Ricci’s contribution to Eve’s growth was recognized as integral, having helped complete a $2.7 billion merger transaction between Zanite and Eve.

The changes in leadership represent a significant step for Eve Air Mobility as it navigates the promising landscape of UAM technology and aims to redefine sustainable urban aviation.
