TAAG Angola Airlines confirmed this Tuesday that they will choose the Boeing 787 Dreamliner family to move forward with the renewal of its long-haul fleet.
This is part of their «Jornada do Cliente» (Customer Journey) plan, which aims to improve the product, comfort, and onboard service for passengers.
The four Boeing 787-9 aircraft ordered will begin to be received from the third quarter of 2024 and will be deployed on both continental routes in Africa and intercontinental routes.
«Our goal is to work with the world’s best manufacturers to build a versatile fleet for TAAG and ensure that we have the right plane for each type of flight, especially on intercontinental routes,» said Eduardo Fairen, CEO of TAAG.
«The choice of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aligns with our intention to renew the fleet with efficient, modern aircraft that are appropriately sized for the routes we operate. We are on the right track to progressively replace our current aircraft and offer a better flight experience to our passengers,» he added.
Ana Major, president of TAAG, emphasized that the evaluation and negotiation process with Airbus and Boeing was conducted with «great rigor and professionalism.» This is in reference to the fact that, as they had previously mentioned to Aviacionline in an interview with their CEO, the airline was choosing between the 787 and the A330neo.
TAAG’s current fleet consists of six DHC-8-400, five Boeing 737-700, 5 Boeing 777-300ER, 3 Boeing 777-200ER, and one A330-200, as well as two freighter aircraft, 737-700 and 737-800SF.
Their 777-200s have an average age of 16.6 years, while their 777-300ERs average 9.7 years.
TAAG also has orders for fifteen Airbus A220-300 that will replace the 737-700 and will allow for network expansion.
