Brazil: Passenger traffic at Salvador de Bahía Airport grew by 21% in Q3 2023

In the third quarter of 2023, more than 1.9 million passengers used Salvador Airport, an increase of 21% compared to the same period in 2022.

VINCI Airports, the concessionaire that manages Salvador de Bahia Airport, recorded an 8.6% increase at its 8 Brazilian airports. In the January-September period, the airport grew by 9.6%, with more than 5.3 million passengers served.

Passenger traffic at Salvador Airport remains 1.3% below pre-pandemic levels. This figure reflects the performance in the period since the concession began, according to data from VINCI Airports’ global traffic report.

Salvador airport recorded 14,631 landings and takeoffs between July 1 and September 30, 2023. More than 77 million passengers moved through the VINCI Airports network in Q3 2023 (up 21% from Q3 2022, down 2.8% from Q3 2019).

Airlines increased operations over the summer to meet high demand, despite macroeconomic tensions in Europe. Network-wide traffic in September was positioned very close to pre-pandemic levels (1.2% below the September 2019 total and 22% higher than September 2022).

Another important aspect of this quarter was the addition of the seven Cape Verde airports, where traffic has increased in recent months. International traffic is 10% higher than in 2019, including solid numbers on flights connecting tourist destinations in Sal, Boa Vista and São Vicente with destinations in Western Europe, including Lisbon and Paris.
