The Directorate of Air Transport and Aerocommercial Affairs of the Civil Aeronautics Authority will send the Slot Allocation List for El Dorado International Airport on November 10. This list pertains to the slots for the upcoming summer season of 2024.
The original presentation date was scheduled for November 2, 2023, but due to the ongoing activities related to airport slot coordination, based on the initial submission of a large number of structured and unstructured requests from airlines, the presentation will take place on November 10.
This coordination of airport slots aims to organize flights departing from or arriving at Bogotá’s airport terminal more efficiently. The goal is to achieve demand distribution that ensures equality and proportionality, based on applicable coordination parameters and in compliance with current Aeronautical Regulations and Standards.
With this slot reorganization, the objective is to optimize the use of airport infrastructure and maximize benefits for as many airport users as possible, while maintaining optimal punctuality levels for flights.
As a result, airlines will be able to coordinate more effectively with other airports during the World Airport Slot Conference, which will take place from November 14 to 17, 2023.
Winter 2023 Slot Distribution
The winter season of 2023 officially began on October 29, and it will extend until April 2024. The El Dorado slot committee has restructured, with Avianca serving as the committee’s president, LATAM as vice president, and Wingo as the secretary-general.
Following this committee structure modification, the slot percentages for winter 2023 were revealed, with Avianca having 51.53% of slots, LATAM 21.79%, JetSMART 5.05%, and Wingo 4.91%.
A Delay Benefiting JetSMART
The Chilean ultra-low-cost airline plans to commence operations in Colombia during the first half of 2024. This rescheduling of the slot list for the summer of 2024 offers JetSMART the opportunity to request slots with more competitive schedules or those that can facilitate more efficient connections between its flights.
