At 17:37 local time on Wednesday (22nd), the inaugural flight of China Eastern Airlines from Wenzhou landed at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas International Airport. 194 passengers arrived on this first operation.
This is the first time that both cities are directly connected, and initially, China Eastern will operate two weekly flights, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with Airbus A350-900 aircraft capable of carrying 286 passengers.
The MU 261 flight will depart from Wenzhou at 11:00 and arrive in Madrid at 18:35, after about 13 hours in the air. The return flight will be at 21:15, arriving in the Chinese city at 17:30 the next day. All times are local.
Wenzhou is the fourth city in the People’s Republic of China to have non-stop flights to Madrid, after Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing.
The current schedule of regular passenger flights between Madrid and the People’s Republic of China is as follows:
- Madrid – Wenzhou: two weekly flights by China Eastern with A350-900 aircraft.
- Madrid – Shanghai: five weekly flights by China Eastern with A350-900 aircraft.
- Madrid – Chongqing: two weekly flights by Hainan Airlines with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
- Madrid – Beijing: a daily flight by Air China with Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
In Spain, the offer is complemented by two weekly flights from Shenzhen Airlines between Barcelona and Shenzhen with A330-200; and three weekly flights by Air China between Barcelona and Beijing with A330-300.
