Ryanair announced the opening of its new base at Dubrovnik Airport starting April 2024, with two Boeing 737-8200 «Gamechanger» aircraft, involving an investment of $200 million. This new base will generate up to 500 local job positions, including 60 pilots and cabin crew.

Dubrovnik becomes Ryanair’s third Croatian base, in addition to the existing ones in Zadar and Zagreb, expanding the airline’s presence in Croatia with 18 routes to Dubrovnik for the summer of 2024.

Among the destinations Ryanair will offer from its new base, notable routes include connections to Berlin, Brussels, Helsinki, London, Milan, Paris, Rome, Stockholm, and Wroclaw, as well as increased frequencies on popular routes to Dublin and Vienna.

Ryanair has been providing connectivity to Croatia for over 15 years, contributing to the recovery of Croatian traffic after the cholera epidemic. Since the pandemic, Ryanair has invested over $800 million in Croatia, including the opening of its new base in Dubrovnik and bases in Zagreb and Zadar. Ryanair also operates flights to other Croatian airports such as Osijek, Pula, Rijeka, and Split.

Jason McGuinness, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, stated: «As Europe and Croatia’s largest and fastest-growing airline, Ryanair is delighted to announce our new base for the summer of 2024 in Dubrovnik, with 2 ‘Gamechanger’ Boeing 737-8200 aircraft, complementing our existing bases in Zagreb and Zadar.»

«This represents an additional investment of $200 million ($800 million in total across the 3 bases) in Croatia, creating over 60 well-paying jobs for pilots and cabin crew, while supporting more than 500 local job positions in Dubrovnik through our year-round tourism and connectivity offerings,» added McGuinness.

On his part, Dubrovnik Airport’s General Director, Viktor Šober, expressed: «We are thrilled to announce that Ryanair will open its new base at Ruđer Bošković Airport, initially basing two of its aircraft, which will begin operations in early April 2024. Ryanair will connect Ruđer Bošković Airport with 18 European destinations during the summer of 2024 and with 3 destinations in the winter of 2024/2025.»
