The German Bundeswehr and Airbus Helicopters have finalized an unprecedented contract for up to 82 multi-role H145M helicopters (62 firm orders and 20 options). This order represents the largest ever for the H145M model, as well as for the HForce weapon management system.

Distribution and Operational Roles

Under this new agreement, the German Army is set to receive fifty-seven helicopters, while the Luftwaffe’s special forces will be bolstered with five additional units.

“We are proud that the Bundeswehr has chosen to significantly expand their fleet with up to 82 H145M helicopters,” stated Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “The German Air Force’s experience with the H145M LUH Special Operations Forces fleet has been a testament to the helicopter’s robust, multi-role capabilities. Our commitment is to meet the ambitious delivery schedule, starting in 2024, less than a year after the contract signing,” he added.

The H145M is equipped to quickly switch from light attack configurations to special operations roles, it features axial ballistic and guided weapons, state-of-the-art self-protection systems, fast rappelling equipment, and options for advanced Manned-Unmanned Teaming.

It also boasts hoisting and external cargo capabilities, ensuring comprehensive mission support. The H145Ms ordered by the Bundeswehr will come with fixed provisions for the HForce weapon management system.
