Iberojet, part of the Ávoris group, is celebrating a major milestone – a year since the inauguration of its direct flight operations between Madrid and Tegucigalpa-Palmerola, Honduras. This route not only signifies the only direct connection between Europe and this Central American airport but has also successfully mobilized over 66,000 passengers across 208 flights.
The airline reports a strong market response from both Spanish and Honduran markets, with high occupancy rates on all flights. Currently operating on Wednesdays and Saturdays, Iberojet aims to increase these frequencies in the near future with its Airbus A350-900 fleet.
Building International Connections
José Ignacio Lugo, Deputy General Director of Iberojet, expressed pride in the route’s success, attributing it to collaborations with Honduran governmental and airport authorities, and the private sector. He also commended Iberojet’s team for their excellent work in making this route a reality.
«The first year of operation and the extraordinary reception it is having in the market means the consolidation of the route for the future. I would like to stress that the launch of this operation was possible thanks to the excellent collaboration of the government, the Honduran airport authorities and the entire local private sector, a collaboration that has been consolidated and expanded throughout this year, strengthening ties between the two countries, which fills us with pride. I would also like to highlight the great work carried out by Iberojet’s entire team, both its central services and its crews», said Lugo.
Iberojet, by offering 1,728 weekly seats between Spain and Honduras, has become a leading operator in this market segment. CEO Paul Verhagen announced plans to leverage Palmerola as a hub for regional connections, further expanding their market footprint.
The route, EVE 867, operates between Madrid and Tegucigalpa/Comayagua on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with the return, EVE 868, following suit.
