ITA Airways is expanding its transatlantic network with a new destination to Canada for the 2024 summer season with the addition of a non-stop service between Rome Fiumicino and Toronto Pearson. The airline’s schedule for next year will have eight routes between Italy and North America,
The former Alitalia once operated a seasonal flight between Rome and Toronto: the last operation having been on 26 October on an Airbus A330. ITA is the second Italian airline and the fifth carrier to have non-stop flights between Italy and Canada.
According to data obtained by Aviacionline through the Italian National Agency for Civil Aviation (ENAC), 359,110 passengers flew between Rome and Toronto in 2019, the seventh long-haul route from the Italian capital’s main airport. ITA competes in this segment with Air Canada and Air Transat,

Route details
- Initially it will start with six weekly flights.
- Between 1 June and 30 September, daily flights will be offered.
- In October the route is reduced to five flights per week.
This service will be available during the summer season.
The route will be operated on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft with a capacity of 291 seats in three classes (30 Business Class/24 Premium Economy/237 Economy). The new ITA flights can be booked through Air France KLM Flying Blue and Virgin Atlantic Flying Blue.
By the 2024 summer season, ITA Airways will offer 135,918 seats per week between Italy and North America. In addition to the new flights to Toronto, the airline also serves New York JFK, Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Washington DC, San Francisco and Chicago.
