ENAIRE, the national air navigation service provider in Spain, reported a record of more than two million flights (2,191,932), which represents an increase of 10.6% compared to 2022 and 2% compared to 2019, the previous record year.
In two days of the summer of 2023 records of the last year before the pandemic were surpassed: on Saturday July 22nd ENAIRE registered 7,449 flights and on August 12th 7,440 flights were handled. Overflights, which have neither origin nor destination at a Spanish airport reached 509,708, growing 16% compared to 2022. International flights (1,237,541) increased by 10% and domestic flights (444,683) increased by 6.7%,
All the control centers increased traffic in 2023, and those of Seville (13.5%), Barcelona (11.4) and Madrid (10.5%) recorded a double-digit growth compared to 2022.
ENAIRE has obtained a perceived quality level of 77.2%, which represents a 2.6% increase over the previous year and exceeds the 76% target set in its strategic plan, Flight Plan 2025. The Spanish airports have rated ENAIRE with 91.2%, the best mark of all the historical series which evaluates the quality of the services provided by the navigation manager, such as air traffic control, flow management, communications, navigation, among others.
In the first 11 months of 2023, the flight efficiency of the Spanish route network was 96.7%, increasing the value of 2019, which was the highest year in the history of Spanish air traffic.
