United Airlines continues to expand its European route network with new nonstop service between Chicago and Athens. By next summer, the airline will offer 15 transatlantic routes from O’Hare International Airport.
The new service is the carrier’s third route to the Greek capital, with daily flights to Newark beginning March 30 on Boeing 787-10 aircraft and daily service to Washington-Dulles on Boeing 787-8 aircraft beginning April 14. In total, United will offer 5,628 seats per week between the U.S. and Greece during the peak season.
The Chicago – Athens service is United’s third new transatlantic route, following the launch of Newark – Faro and San Francisco – Barcelona. By this 2024 summer season, the carrier will have 38 transatlantic destinations.

Athens has non-stop connections to New York JFK, Newark, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington-Dulles, Atlanta, and Chicago O’Hare. Airlines offering direct service between Greece and the United States include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Emirates, Norse Atlantic, and United.
