Avelo Airlines announced the opening of a new operating base at Sonoma County’s Charles M. Schulz Airport (STS) on May 1. The airline has been operating at STS for almost three years, and with the establishment of this new base, it will be able to expand its range of destinations.
The new base in Sonoma will initially have two Boeing 737 aircraft and will create up to 50 jobs, including pilots, flight attendants, and mechanics. STS was the company’s inaugural destination in 2021.
Avelo Airlines’ founder, president, and CEO, Andrew Levy, said: «STS is our kind of home airport: friendly, fast, and easy. As the inaugural destination of Avelo’s first flight in 2021, the Bay Area holds a special place in our history.»
«Since then, over 300,000 customers have experienced Avelo’s daily low fares, convenience, and reliability flying to and from STS. We are very excited about the growth platform the airport provides to Avelo and the significant labor and economic impact our investment will bring to the region,» he added.
«We are very excited about the next chapter of this great partnership with Avelo Airlines. We look forward to seeing the new connections and operations this will bring to our community, along with all the benefits of having an Avelo base here at STS», added Sonoma County Airport Director, Jon Stout.
