The Carrasco International Airport, serving Montevideo, mobilized 201,338 passengers during January, thus surpassing the January 2012 record when it had handled 197,763 travelers.
The concessionaire, Aeropuertos Uruguay (part of Corporación América Airports), idetailed that currently, in Carrasco, 12 airlines operate regularly connecting it with 17 destinations: Madrid (Air Europa and Iberia), Panama (Copa Airlines), Asunción (Paranair), Santiago de Chile (JetSMART, LATAM, and Sky), Lima (LATAM and Sky), São Paulo (Gol and LATAM), Buenos Aires-Aeroparque and Ezeiza (Aerolíneas Argentinas), Bogotá (Avianca), Porto Alegre (Azul), Recife (Azul), Rio de Janeiro (JetSMART), Miami (American Airlines), Salvador de Bahia (Sky), Florianópolis (Sky), Bariloche (Aerolíneas Argentinas), and Curitiba (Azul), totaling 168 weekly flights.
“As the gateway to Uruguay, we celebrate this milestone, which marks the beginning of a year in which we will continue working to boost our country’s connectivity and keep bringing Uruguay closer to the world. The joint work with the entire industry ecosystem, from the airlines to the authorities, is the key to continue growing in this way,” said Federico Cabrera, Operations and Experience Manager of Aeropuertos Uruguay.

“We have reinforced all services to provide the best customer experience, betting on technology to facilitate airport processes and also on the closeness of our teams to the customer. We have a portfolio of significant projects and investments for this year that will allow us to further enhance the experience at our terminal,” he added.
In that sense, the implementation of the Easy Airport system was highlighted, which allows passengers to self-manage their passage through the terminal to make it more agile while maintaining the highest standards of security.
