Edelweiss schedules first Airbus A350 routes

Edelweiss will be the first Swiss airline to fly the Airbus A350 next year. According to the current schedule, the first of the six aircraft will join the Edelweiss fleet in early 2025. Before being used on long-haul routes, the aircraft will operate several short- and medium-haul destinations in the first few weeks.

First long-haul routes

Las Vegas will be the first long-haul destination to which Edelweiss will operate the Airbus A350. From mid-May 2025, the aircraft will fly three times a week on this service. The Zurich-Vancouver route will operate daily when a second Airbus A350 joins the fleet in early July 2025.

The third Airbus A350 will join the Edelweiss fleet in early October 2025, the fourth joins in winter 2025 and aircraft number 5 and 6 in the second half of 2026.

Tickets for long-haul flights with Edelweiss’ Airbus A350 will be available for sale from May 2024 through the airline’s regular channels.

Airbus A350: an environmentally friendly and economical aircraft

Edelweiss is introducing six Airbus A350-900 aircraft to replace the five Airbus A340-300s that are currently in the fleet and will be retired by mid-2027, the Swiss leisure airline will regain its pre-pandemic status with the six aircraft that will be integrated into the fleet.

Last year, Lufthansa Group acquired six Airbus A350-900s previously owned by LATAM Brazil to replace Edelweiss’ A340 fleet, the aircraft have a 30-seat Business Class and 309 Economy configuration. The Airbus A350-900 consumes 25% less fuel and produces 25% less carbon dioxide than the Airbus A340-300. Noise emissions are also reduced by 50%.
