Avianca inaugurated today its seasonal flights between Bogotá and Montreal, marking the first time in its history that it has linked both cities. This also marks the return of a South American airline to Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport for the first time in over three decades.
The company will fly four times a week with Airbus A320 aircraft with a capacity for 180 passengers, offering 1,440 seats per week. The flights are scheduled until October 25, taking advantage of the Northern Hemisphere summer season and the influx of Canadian tourists to Colombia.
Between June and September, Montreal will also be connected to El Salvador, Avianca’s second most important base.
Montreal is Avianca’s second destination in Canada, after it inaugurated its daily operations from Toronto (YYZ) to Bogotá and San Salvador (SAL), El Salvador, in 2022.
«In December 2021, we committed to connecting Latin America with Canada by inaugurating our routes from Bogotá and San Salvador to Toronto. Today, just over two years have passed, and more than 415,000 passengers have flown with us on nearly 3,200 flights,» said Ana María Copete, Avianca’s Director of Commercial Development.
«Thanks to the great reception of this operation and the joint work with airports and authorities, today our first flight to Montreal takes off, an incredible opportunity to continue boosting tourism, business, and new opportunities between our entire region and Canada,» she added.
Natalí Leal, General Manager of OPAIN (El Dorado Airport operator), said, «With the inauguration of Avianca’s new route to Montreal, El Dorado continues to consolidate its position as South America’s gateway and reaffirms our commitment to continue advancing to offer unparalleled experiences to travelers.»
