Iberia will increase its service between Madrid (MAD) and Boston (BOS), going from 7 to 14 weekly flights (two daily flights).
This increase coincides with the upcoming market introduction of the Airbus A321XLR, operated by Iberia, the launch customer for this model. The first destinations of the A321XLR will be Boston (BOS) and Washington/Dulles (IAD) starting in October 2024, replacing the Airbus A330-200/-300 on these routes.
Iberia’s strategy is to reposition its wide-body aircraft on longer-distance routes. Additionally, the A321XLR will allow these destinations to remain operational year-round, previously served seasonally, and increase flight frequency.

To compensate for the lower capacity of the A321XLR, its configuration will be premium. In Business, it will feature 14 lie-flat seats with individual 18-inch screens, offering the same premium experience as in wide-body aircraft. In Economy, there will be 168 Recaro CL3810 seats with a four-inch recline. All cabins will be equipped with upgraded USB type A and C charging ports, and tables designed for placing electronic devices and accessing onboard entertainment via Wi-Fi.
With a total of 186 seats, the A321XLR’s configuration is more spacious compared to the high-density configuration, which typically has 40 additional seats.
Starting February 16, 2025, Iberia will increase to two daily flights to Boston. This increase will optimize connections in Madrid (MAD) to other domestic and international destinations of Iberia and its partner airlines.

This increase represents the largest expansion of Iberia in Boston, offering a total of 5,208 seats per week, a 19% increase compared to the current daily flight operated with Airbus A330-200, configured for 311 passengers.
Iberia is the only operator between Madrid and Boston, complemented by LEVEL’s daily flights from Barcelona during the summer season.
