Flynas and Airbus signed a memorandum of understanding for the acquisition of nearly a hundred additional aircraft to support their growth plans.
The agreement, sealed today on the fourth day of the Farnborough Airshow, includes 75 A320neo family aircraft and 15 A330neo, which will nearly double the backlog of narrow-body aircraft pending delivery (67 A320neo and 10 A321neo). The wide-body fleet will receive the most significant boost, as it currently consists of only six A330-300 and four A330-200 (with three A330neo pending). The new A330neo will come with a two-class cabin configuration with capacity for up to 400 passengers.
«The A320neo family provides exceptional operational performance and environmental benefits, allowing us to offer unique and low-cost travel experiences. Additionally, the A330neo will enhance our long-haul capabilities with its advanced technology and efficiency, while supporting our growth plans and Saudi Arabia’s pilgrim program,» said Bander Almohanna, CEO of Flynas.
Meanwhile, Christian Scherer, CEO of Commercial Aircraft at Airbus, said that «the A330neo will allow Flynas to grow even further in the wide-body markets based on the A320, benefiting from Airbus’s unique commonality. Both aircraft types offer Flynas the perfect versatility and economy to expand into new markets while providing their passengers with the latest in cabin experience and comfort.»
The current fleet of Flynas consists of 53 A320neo, 6 A330-300, and 4 A330-200, covering a network of 53 destinations in the Middle East, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and North Africa from its main base at King Khalid Airport in Riyadh. In 2023, it transported 11 million passengers, 26% more than the previous year.
