British Airways has taken delivery of its 40th Boeing 787 and the tenth of the -10 series. IAG is the largest operator of the Dreamliner in Europe and is one of only three airlines currently in the world to have all three 787 models in its fleet, along with All Nippon Airways and United Airlines.
The aircraft delivered was registered G-ZBLJ. It took off from Charleston Airport at 18:58 local time on 4 September and landed at Cardiff Airport at 07:01 the following day, after seven hours and three minutes. G-ZBLJ made its first commercial service on 9 September on a flight between London-Heathrow and Bridgetown in Barbados.
British Airways took delivery of its first Dreamliner in 2013, and since then it has become a staple aircraft in long-haul operations, with the addition of the -8 and -9 models allowing the airline to fly point-to-point routes including Pittsburgh, Nashville, New Orleans, Cincinnati and Portland.
The British Airways Dreamliner fleet consists of twelve 787-8s, eighteen 787-9s and ten 787-10s with eight on order. British Airways’ 787-10 has a configuration of 256 seats in four classes: eight First Class, 48 Business Class, 35 Premium Economy and 165 in Economy.
