Delta Air Lines to Launch Boston-Barcelona Route Amidst Summer 2025 Expansion

In the context of what it defined as the “largest-ever trans-Atlantic summer schedule,” which includes new routes and more frequencies mainly to Italy, Delta Air Lines also left room for Spain, where it will strengthen its offering in Barcelona for the 2025 summer season.

Starting in May, the U.S. airline will begin operating three weekly flights between Boston and Barcelona, a route where it will face off with LEVEL, IAG’s low-cost airline, which operates it with seven flights per week. As of this publication, this new service is not yet available for booking on Delta.com.

They did not specify which aircraft will be used for the flights between Boston and Barcelona, but in a general statement, they mentioned that “an increasing number of transatlantic flights will be operated by the new Airbus A330-900 and A350-900 with Delta One Suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin cabins.”

“Delta has been an excellent partner of Logan Airport for many years, and we are thrilled with their new routes to Milan and Barcelona as part of their transatlantic expansion in the summer of 2025. These new services will provide our passengers with more travel opportunities and further strengthen our ties between New England and various regions of Europe,” said Ed Freni, Director of Aviation at Massport, operator of Boston-Logan Airport.

Delta will also increase its capacity on the route between Atlanta and Barcelona, moving from operating one daily flight to 10 per week. The flights connecting Barcelona with New York-JFK will remain at a daily frequency.

In Spain, the airline also has a presence in Madrid with a daily flight from Atlanta and New York-JFK.

In Europe, as we detailed in another article, Delta Air Lines also launched four new routes to Italy (including Catania as a new destination), as well as flights between Atlanta and Brussels, and Detroit and Dublin.

In total, the company has scheduled more than 700 weekly flights between the United States and Europe for the summer of 2025.
