Avelo Airlines has launched its regular international passenger services with year-round nonstop flights between Hartford and Montego Bay, offering approximately 1,000 seats per week to/from Jamaica. On November 20, the airline will begin a nonstop connection to Cancún, which will be its second international destination.
Flight XP 902 was operated by a Boeing 737 registered as N808VL, which departed Bradley International Airport at 06:47 local time on November 16 and landed at Sir Donald Sangster International Airport at 10:11, after three hours and 23 minutes, covering more than 2,600 kilometers.
Montego Bay is one of the most popular vacation destinations for travelers from the U.S. East Coast, and 56,000 residents of Jamaican descent live in Connecticut. “Montego Bay: Say hello to Avelo! Our inaugural international service to Montego Bay is a significant milestone for Avelo. With a large Jamaican community residing in Connecticut, we look forward to facilitating their connections with family and friends. As the only airline offering direct service to Jamaica from Connecticut, we are excited to make Montego Bay’s famous beaches, vibrant energy, and laid-back charm easier than ever for Connecticut travelers to enjoy,” said Andrew Levy, founder and CEO of Avelo Airlines.
