After presenting its quarterly results, Azul Linhas Aéreas confirmed that it will receive one Embraer aircraft per month in 2025, and even two during some periods, despite delays in the Brazilian manufacturer’s production chain.

The company emphasized the importance of the Embraer 195-E2 in its growth strategy. The E2 model represents a significant improvement over the E1, offering lower operating costs and fuel consumption, as well as 18 additional seats per aircraft. «We are very excited about the E2, which will be fundamental to our growth strategy,» said Abhi Shah, the airline’s president.

According to the Cirium platform, Azul received four Embraer E2 aircraft in 2024 and expects to receive two more to close the year with 24 units in its fleet, all configured in a single-class layout with 136 seats.

Therefore, Azul’s statement of receiving one aircraft per month will double the deliveries it received in 2024. The airline is expected to receive between 12 and 15 aircraft, according to Aeroin, from a remaining order of 53 aircraft through 2030, to complete a total of 75 E2s.

Part of these deliveries will gradually replace its Embraer E195 aircraft of the previous generation, of which it currently operates 45 units with an average age of 11.8 years. These have also been used to replace routes with better performance that were operated with ATR 72-600.

The Embraer E19-E2 fleet is based in Belo Horizonte/Confins (CNF) and São Paulo/Viracopos (VCP), with a smaller presence in São Paulo/Congonhas (CGH) and Recife (REC), primarily operating domestic routes. Asunción (ASU) and Montevideo (MVD) are the only international destinations served by the E2s.
