Air France inaugurated its service between Paris (CDG) and Kilimanjaro (KIA), Tanzania, after 28 years since its last flight to the city, known as one of the most important tourist attractions on the African continent.

The airline operates three weekly flights between the French capital and Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft with a capacity of 324 passengers in three classes.

The route is operated in a triangular fashion, departing from Paris to Zanzibar (ZNZ), then continuing to Kilimanjaro and returning to Paris.

The new route replaces the former Air France connection that linked Paris with Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam, a coastal city in Tanzania, which will be available to Air France-KLM customers from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, operated by KLM with six weekly flights.

Kilimanjaro is one of Africa’s top tourist destinations, featuring the iconic mountain located less than 50 kilometers from the airport and visible during the aircraft’s approach whenever weather permits. The Kilimanjaro National Park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and serves as the starting point for wildlife safaris and trekking expeditions to the mountain.

In addition to flights operated by Air France, Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) also offers services from major global airlines such as KLM, Qatar Airways, Edelweiss Air, Discover Airlines, and Ethiopian Airlines.
