So far in 2024, Avianca has benefited more than 4,900 children and adolescents in Latin America through its Miles Bank program and strategic alliances with organizations such as SOS Children’s Villages, Operation Smile Foundation, and Make a Wish.

The Miles Bank, one of Avianca’s main social tools, is key to mobilizing resources for these initiatives. Thanks to voluntary donations from LifeMiles members, more than 670,000 miles were collected in the first half of 2024, facilitating the transportation of health, psychology, and education specialists, as well as the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Thanks to our planes, our social allies, and the Miles Bank, we are able to bring hundreds of specialists directly to the most vulnerable communities in our country. In 2023, we benefited nearly 14,000 people, and in 2024, we aim to surpass 20,000 beneficiaries,” said Felipe Andrés Gómez Vivas, Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability at Avianca.

In partnership with SOS Children’s Villages, Avianca contributes to the transportation of professionals to vulnerable regions to support foster care programs and ensure a safe environment for children separated from their families. Since 2018, this collaboration has impacted more than 4,300 children and adolescents at risk.

Meanwhile, the initiatives conducted with Operation Smile highlight the direct impact on rural and hard-to-reach communities. During the most recent brigade, held in Montería, Córdoba, 120 patients, mostly children under 10 years old, received care.

Recognition and Future Goals

Avianca’s social commitment has been recognized by the 2024 Private Social Investment Index (IISP), a metric that evaluates the social impact of organizations in Latin America. This recognition validates the airline’s efforts to expand its social impact through strategic alliances, the use of its resources, and the active participation of its customers.

Aiming to surpass 20,000 beneficiaries in 2024, Avianca reinforces its role as a key player in transforming lives in Latin America, using its routes and miles to connect not only destinations but also hopes and opportunities.
