Azul Linhas Aéreas received a new Embraer E195-E2, featuring a special livery showcasing the Brazilian flag across its fuselage. This is the fifth aircraft of this model received in 2024 and was named «Coração Brasileiro» (Brazilian Heart).
The aircraft, registered as PS-AEY, departed from Embraer’s facilities in São José dos Campos (SJK) bound for Montevideo, Uruguay, and then returned to Brazil. It landed at 00:11 at Belo Horizonte International Airport (CNF), where it will undergo registration before joining Azul’s fleet.
As explained by our associated media outlet in Brazil, AEROIN, Embraer delivers the aircraft to its leasing company owner, which has a legal representative in Uruguay, and it, in turn, exports the aircraft to Azul. This procedure results in a tax benefit that can amount to millions of reais per aircraft.
The Embraer 195-E2 is the largest and most modern commercial aircraft manufactured in Brazil, with a capacity of 136 passengers in the configuration chosen by Azul. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including in-flight Wi-Fi and individual screens on all seats, the model is a benchmark for efficiency and sustainability.
Azul has the youngest fleet in Brazil, with an average age of 7.1 years. So far in 2024, the company has received 14 aircraft, including four Airbus A330s, five Embraer E2s, two Airbus A320neos, two Airbus A321 P2Fs, and one ATR 72-600.
