China Southern Airlines has initiated the sale process for its entire fleet of 10 Boeing 787-8 aircraft, including two GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines.

This announcement, made on November 19, suggests a fleet standardization strategy, as the company will continue operating the larger Boeing 787-9 model, according to Aeroin.

The sale includes the first 787 aircraft delivered to China Southern, registered as B-2725, which was received in May 2013.

Deliveries of the models up for sale are expected to begin in 2025 and continue into 2026. China Southern’s proposal requires the sale of all aircraft and engines as a complete package, thus rejecting partial purchase offers.

With a fleet of 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, China Southern highlights a potential strategy to standardize its fleet, simplifying operations and maintenance. Currently, the airline operates a diverse fleet of more than 650 aircraft.
