SKY Airline commemorates a decade since the start of its operations in Brazil, during which it has transported over 1.8 million passengers on direct flights between the South American country and Chile. According to the airline, the number of travelers has increased by 508% between 2014 and 2024, reflecting sustained growth in its operations.
In 2014, SKY began its services in Brazil with a single regular route between Santiago and São Paulo, recording 80,000 passengers in its first year. Currently, the company operates seven direct routes between the two countries, in addition to three additional routes connecting Brazil with Peru and Uruguay. According to the company, between January and October of this year, more than 626,000 travelers were recorded on these routes.

São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the busiest destinations
The airline details that São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have been the most popular destinations for passengers traveling between Brazil and Chile. Between these two cities, 1.4 million of the travelers transported over the last 10 years were concentrated, with São Paulo being the main connection with 729,000 passengers, followed by Rio de Janeiro with 676,000.
«These 10 years in Brazil have been a unique opportunity to connect more Chileans with various cities of the samba country,» said Franco Chaparro, SKY’s Sales Manager. «During this decade, we have managed to transport over 1 million 800 thousand passengers between Chile and Brazil, with São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro being the most visited places,» he added.
Expansion and new international routes
In 2023, SKY began a phase of strengthening its international route network, in which Brazil played a central role. According to the airline, due to the popularity of destinations like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, new routes to Peru and Uruguay were launched.
Additionally, in 2024, the airline incorporated seasonal routes during Chile’s winter season, connecting Santiago with Brasília and Belo Horizonte, as part of a strategy to attract Brazilian tourists interested in snow destinations.
According to the company, this expansion and diversification in its offerings reflect the high demand and acceptance that its routes have had among Brazilian passengers, consolidating Brazil as one of its main international markets.
