With the reopening of borders in Colombia at the end of September, local airlines were rescheduling its international flights according to the situation of low demand and the existing restrictions in other countries of the region.
Avianca had announced at the beginning of the month a series of initial destinations to be restarted in October, but in recent days other destinations were added as the restrictions became more flexible. In addition, international demand is gradually recovering in traditional destinations, such as Guatemala, where the company announced an increase in its operations.
Between October 15 and 17, the company began operating a wide variety of destinations: Santiago de Chile, Cancun (Mexico), La Paz and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Punta Cana and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), Madrid (Spain), San Salvador (El Salvador), Guatemala and Washington (United States).
Previously they had already returned to Mexico City; New York and Miami (United States), Quito and Guayaquil (Ecuador); and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
These are the dates on which Avianca plans to restart its services:
• Buenos Aires, restarts on October 24 with a weekly flight.
• Panama City, restarts on October 26 with three weekly flights.
• London, restarts on November 4 with a weekly flight.
• Barcelona, restarts on November 5 with a weekly flight.
• Montevideo, restarts on December 1 with two weekly flights
• Asunción, restarts on December 2 with two weekly flights.
